The General Rules for governmental subsidy :
- The Account Owner should be Bahraini.
- The Account Owner's CPR & address exist in Information & eGovernment Authority database.
- The registered address in the (EWA) customers' service system must match the identity card address in Information & eGovernment Authority, and must be residing (living) at the same address.
- The Account Owner should be registered in Information & eGovernment Authority as a “Head of the Household".
- The Account Owner should be alive.
- The Governmental subsidy is applied to one domestic account only.
A. Married Customers :
In additional to the General Rules, the following should be verified:
-The wife’s account: the subsidy is granted if her address matches her husband’s address, on condition that the husband does not have a subsidized account.
-Only one of the spouses will be granted the subsidy, the priority is given to the husband’s account.
- Married (More than one wife ) :
In addition to the General Rules, the following should be verified, excluding rule # (4):
-The Account Owner is entitled to subsidy with a maximum of four alive wives.
-One of the wives’ ID registered address must match the husband’s ID registered address as well as matching the address registered in (EWA) customers’ service system.
-The other wives addresses should match the other accounts addresses for the husband.
B. Singles :
In addition to the General Rules, one of the following points must be fulfilled:
•The account owner is the property owner, working and his/her age should be above 21 years.
•Both parents are deceased.
•The father is deceased and the mother is not Bahraini.
•The parents are separated and each of them got married, on condition that he/she is supporting one of the brothers/sisters.
•The son is sponsoring one of his/her non-Bahrainis' parents.
C. A Bahraini divorcee/widow in the absence of children :
•They are treated as singles as mentioned in the previous point .
D. A Bahraini woman married to a foreigner :
•All points mentioned in the General Rules must be met.
•Communicate with the Customer Services Directorate through the available channels to submit an exceptional subsidy request supported by the following documents:
-A copy of the marriage contract.
-Copies of ID card readers for all family members.
-A copy of the electricity bill.
-Other documents may be required when the application is being reviewed .
E. Non Bahraini widow/divorced in case of children existence :
•All points mentioned in the General Rules must be met, except for Rule # (1) and Rule # (4).
•Communicate with the Customer Services Directorate through the available channels to submit an exceptional subsidy request supported by the following documents :
-A copy of the divorce document (in the case of a divorced woman).
-Copies of ID card readers for all family members.
-A copy of the inheritance legitimacy (in the case of a widow).
-A copy of the marriage contract (in the case of a widow).
-A copy of the custody ruling (in the case of a divorced woman).
-A copy of the electricity bill.
-Other documents may be required when the application is being reviewed.
F. Limited Income Families :
•All points mentioned in the General Rules must be met.
•They Classified as poor families from Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
G. Housing Cases :
•All points mentioned in the General Rules must be met, except for Rule # (3).
•A copy of the housing application for the account owner approved by Ministry of Housing.
H. Death of the Customer (account owner) :
•In the event of the customer’s death, the subsidy will be automatically removed through the system, which is linked to the Information & eGovernment Authority.
•The Customer Services Directorate communicates with the deceased's heirs via text messages in addition to a letter by mail.
•Legitimacy does not require converting the name of the customer and only requires the approval of all the heirs.
•The heirs of the deceased shall be given sufficient period of up to two months to transfer the name of the customer.
•When transferring the electricity account to the name of one of the heirs/relatives of one of the heirs, the new customer can apply for backdated subsidy adjustment for the period between the date of losing the government subsidy on the deceased customer until the date of granting the government subsidy in the name of the new customer for a period that does not exceed 90 days, considering the period of governmental subsidy that the new customer received in his other accounts.

•Register a complaint to request exceptional government subsidy through this
link, and the customer’s case will be studied and responded to by the responsible unit as soon as possible according to the procedures enforced in the Electricity & Water Authority.
