Voltage Levels:

  • Low Voltage (LV): Connection to Ministry of Electricity & Water's (MEW) network at voltage of 415 volts phase to phase.
  • Medium Voltage (MV): Connection to Ministry of Electricity & Water's (MEW) network at voltage level of 11000 volts (11KV) phase to phase.
  • High Voltage (HV): Connection to Ministry of Electricity & Water's (MEW) network at voltage level exceeding Medium Voltage.


Domestic​:

Power supply to all single occupancy premises for domestic usage such as private villas, traditional houses and government housing schemes (villas), labour camps and flats.


Government Builidings​:

Power supply to all types of government buildings such as:

  • Government Hospitals/Health Centers
  • Government Housing Flats
  • Government Pumping Stations (Sewerage/Water)
  • Government Schools/ Universities/ Stadiums/ Libraries/ Laboratories
  • Police or fire Stations/ Traffic Lights/ Airports/ Seaports
  • Non-profit Charities/ National Clubs Licensed and supported by Ministry


Exempted Buildings:

Buildings and premises being exempted from capital contribution fees according to Cabinet Orders.


Other Buildings (Non-Domestic):​

All types of premises not included above such as:

  • Staircase/ Guardrooms/ Offi​ces​
  • Hotels/ Restaurants/ Banks/ Commercial Centers/ Commercial Malls/ Theaters/ Cinemas

General Policy:

  • No new connection from Wall Boxes.
  • Supply points shall not exceed 10 m for each service. Applicant must pay for extra length of services.
  • Where type of premises is to be changed, a re-wiring application shall be submitted for total load.
  • For low voltage customers with loads exceeding 340 KVA , the developer shall provide distribution substation building to the requirements of Electricity Distribution Directorate. For loads below 340 KVA, EDD may request the developer to provide substation building if needed. The developer will be compensated for building the substation as per the deduction table in Appendix 2. If the capital contribution is less than the deduction, the customer will be compensated by the remaining amount.
  • For non-domestic buildings comprising combination of flats and others, medium/ high voltage supply conditions to be applied for maximum demand exceeding 3500 KVA.
