The overreaching objective is to increase production capacity in order to keep pace with the urban growth in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Additionally, EWA strives to diversify the energy sources it utilizes to meet the government's objectives pertaining to the implementation of the Energy Transition Plan. This plan entails embracing investment initiatives in renewable energy sources, with the objective to increase the share of renewable energy resources by 20% by 2035. This will contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions and the achievement of carbon neutrality by 2060, aligning with the Kingdom's commitments and the recommendations of the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26).
The authority continues its systematic and strategic efforts, as a part of its innovative steps to improve the quality, safety, and reliability of the electricity network. This includes investing in the electricity network, technology, control centres, and human resources to manage and operate the future network in alignment with global industry standards.
