The annual energy consumption of
lamps isabout 15% of the total
electrical energy consumption.
In order to contribute to reducing
its consumption, the Electricity and
Water Authority, in cooperation with
the Ministry of Industry, Commerce
and Tourism, has prepared "Regulation
for Non-Directional Household Lamps",
whereby Ministerial Order
No. 03/2015 was issued in March 2015 by
the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and
Tourism for the adoption of the
technical regulations.
This order is implemented by the
Electricity and Water Authority and
the Ministry of Industry, Commerce
and Tourism in cooperation with
Customs Affairs. This order ensures
that all the non-directional lamps
in the local market are highly efficient.
The consumption of lamps can be
reduced by using them in an optimal
way as follows:
• Replacing traditional electric lamps
with energy-saving lamps.
• Do not switch on the lights during
the day and take advantage of
natural lighting as much as possible.
• The interior decorations and designs
of the building are an important factor
in improving the efficiency of lighting.
Therefore, it is preferable when painting
the house to choose light colors for the
walls and ceiling, and this contributes to
reducing the amount of energy
consumed.
• Make sure to switch off the lights
before
leaving the house.
• Minimize the use of lamps, especially
those on external walls or during the
daylight hours.
LED lamp characteristics:
• Saves electrical energy by up to
90% compared to traditional lamps.
• It is safe, environmentally friendly,
mercury and lead free, and they can
be recycled, unlike most
fluorescent lamps.
• Long life and lasts 30 times more than
tungsten lamps.
• Produces less heat compared to
other lamps.
• Easy installation and easily replace the
traditional lamp.
• It has a variety of uses such as general
lighting and workplace lighting.
