The establishment of a specialized directorate of Electricity and Water Conservation (EWCD) is considered a pioneer step that reflects the concern and commitment of the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) to sustain the water resources and the electrical energy, and to achieve optimal use of these main resources away from depletion and wastage, as the Kingdom of Bahrain has faced the main challenges in providing electrical energy and fresh water to all users.
The directorate also conducts various programs and events throughout the year, using all the resources and possible ways to reach the targeted sectors by implementing the concept of proactive culture and community partnership through awareness campaigns aimed at promoting the disseminating the culture of conservation by making it a main trait of behaviors of the citizens and residents of our beloved Kingdom… Also, the directorate is working with maximum effort to measure the impact of these campaigns on the various groups of our society, in conjunction with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, as it is considered a basic reference for the implementation of plans, methodologies (approaches) and programs to ultimately achieve the targeted goals.
EWCD has been established as a specialized directorate to conserve electricity and water under three sections, namely:
- Electricity Conservation Section
- Water Conservation Section
- Media and Awareness Group
These sections are operating under three trajectories:
- Legal and legislative
- Technical
- Awareness and guidance
