Solar Energy: Power Your Home for Less

Solar energy can be used to generate electricity or heat. It is a clean and renewable resource that helps protect the environment, and offers a more cost-effective energy solution.

Energy Transition Plan

Bahrain’s Plan for a Renewable Energy Future

In 2023, EWA drafted The Energy Transition Plan. It is our roadmap for moving from fossil fuels to more sustainable energy sources. This plan is aimed at securing our energy supply, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels, decarbonizing energy production, and reducing costs by improving efficiency.

The plan details the expected electricity demand and capacity needs up to 2040. A central part of this plan is our strategy for Renewable Energy Sources (RES), which targets a 20% share of clean energy by 2035. This strategy involves identifying the land requirements for both offshore and onshore projects that will be needed to meet this goal.

Al-Dur Solar Power Plant

The Al-Dur Solar Power Plant is one of Bahrain’s most promising upcoming projects. Expected to be operational by Q3 2026, it will generate up to 95 MW of clean electricity—enough to power thousands of homes.

This initiative is a crucial component of our goal to ensure that 20% of our energy comes from renewable sources by 2035. We are also exploring new solar projects to enhance accessibility to solar energy for all residents of Bahrain, aligning with the nation’s broader vision for sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Why Solar Energy?

Transitioning to solar energy offers numerous advantages, including:

Lower Electricity Bills

Harnessing the sun’s power can lead to significant savings on electricity costs.

Environmental Impact

Solar energy reduces reliance on fossil fuels, contributing to a cleaner environment.

Energy Freedom

Solar energy provides a sustainable and independent power source, granting you greater control over your energy needs.
