Energy Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza met several GCC energy ministers on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainability 2016, held in the UAE capital.
Among them was a meeting with Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mohamed Shaker El-Markabi and senior officials of the country's Renewable Energy Authority.
The meeting discussed opening new horizons for bilateral cooperation between Bahrain and Egypt, especially in the areas of solar energy expansion, in which Egypt has made great strides during the past two years. Plans discussed included solar plants and power generation solar panels being installed on rooftops of houses.
The two sides agreed to draw up a memorandum of understanding on technical details of solar projects and prepare documents and technical requirements on tariff and supply of power.
