The Minister and the CEO of the EWA inaugurate the first electric vehicle charging station in the Kingdom of Bahrain



His Excellency Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of EWA, and His Excellency Sheikh Nawaf bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, CEO of the EWA , inaugurated the first electric charging station for cars in the Autorium complex in the Saar region, in the presence of Mr. Farouk Al-Moayad, one of the owners of electric cars and officials of the Autorium complex, and a number of officials of the Authority.

This comes within the framework of achieving the economic vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain 2030, and achieving the vision of the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister to make the Kingdom of Bahrain an advanced model in line with global technology.

On this occasion, His Excellency Engineer Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of EWA, stated that the Electricity and Water Authority expresses its pride and pride in the advanced achievements that the Kingdom of Bahrain has reached from developments that serve all citizens, residents and visitors.

In the same context, the CEO of the EWA  said that the electric car charger has been installed by one of the companies specialized in this field, the Siemens Company, and supports most types of electric cars, and that the charger supports both AC and DC charging operations, and Sheikh Nawaf added that it is expected to increase Demand for electric charging in the coming period.

His Excellency Sheikh Nawaf indicated that the charger supports three types of plugs, namely, Type 2 AC Connector, CHADEMO Connector, and CCS Connector, and the payment process is made via credit cards where the customer can scan the QR code and choose the amount of energy required for charging (kilowatt hours) and input Credit card information.

He added that this station will serve as the first nucleus for a number of additional stations that will be launched later in various regions of the Kingdom, and usage data and feedback from users will be studied so that the development process will be a continuous process in the new stations.

In conclusion, both His Excellency the Minister and His Excellency the CEO affirmed that the Electricity and Water Authority will move forward in order to raise the level of its services in line with future developments in the field of electricity and water and to follow the best technological methods that are compatible with international specifications and requirements.

They also thanked the management of the Aturium complex for their cooperation in installing the electric charging unit in the complex, which is considered one of the places of tourist attractions in the Kingdom.
