Direct Deduction Service

An active electricity and water account. 

Customers can register for the Direct deduction service through the Electricity and Water Authority's website using the "Direct Deduction Service". The customer needs to fill in the required information and submit it. The dedicated team will then send the joint agreement to the customer for signing.

1. The authorized bank accounts for the auditing and acceptance process for the direct bank deduction service are savings accounts and current accounts only.
2. The instructions for direct bank deduction will remain valid until EWA is notified by the account holder to cancel them, according to the applicable procedures in the Authority, provided that there are no arrears, or that a direct debit agreement is signed on another bank account of the customer.
3. In case the monthly consumption increases or accumulation of outstanding dues on the account the customer must modify the monthly deduction amount according to that increment or settle the difference in the monthly consumption or the arrears amount. EWA has the right to notify the customer of electricity disconnection if customer rejects the request to settle the difference or modify the monthly deduction amount according to that increment.
4. If the direct deduction agreement form is rejected by the bank due to an error in the banking information provided by the customer or for any other reason, EWA has the right to notify the customer of service disconnection if there are outstanding arrears on the account, according to the applicable procedures in the Authority, unless the customer corrects the form to be accepted by the bank within the time period specified by EWA and pay the agreed amount through other means of payment equivalent to the amount of the monthly deduction.
5. In case of non-availability of actual readings when issuing the monthly bill, the customer must provide the actual readings before the process of the monthly deduction, otherwise the Authority will deduct according to the estimated readings within the agreed cap(limit).
6. in case a customer requests a rescheduling of installments, the monthly installment will be calculated based on the remaining period of the current agreement and in accordance with the applicable procedures at that time.
7. The minimum amount for direct bank deduction is determined based on the average monthly consumption and any outstanding dues, if applicable, according to the installment period granted for each category according to EWA’s applicable procedures.
8. If the customer chooses to make payments through any channels other than direct bank deduction, the process of direct bank deduction will not stop based on the agreed deduction date, in case of the presence of outstanding dues.
9. In case EWA is unable to deduct the agreed monthly instalment amount for any reason, EWA has the right to attempt the deduction for the agreed amount or any part of it, within the agreed-upon cap, and try again multiple times on any subsequent dates.
10. In case EWA is unable to deduct the agreed-upon monthly instalment amount due to repeated rejections of the bank deduction process due to bank account closure or insufficient bank balance, the customer is obligated to fully pay the agreed monthly instalment using other payment channels to avoid electricity disconnection procedures.
11. The Fixed deduction agreement for EWA Bills expires after 12 months and it is renewable if no outstanding was accumulated. At the end of the term of the agreement, the actual bill amounts are reviewed, and the Authority has the right to adjust the fixed amount according to the actual consumption of the customer and the accumulated outstanding if exist. In addition, all outstanding bills are settled for the customer; so if the amount paid is more than the amount of the bills issued during the duration of the agreement, the excess  is saved as a credit balance for the customer to pay his future bills, and if the amount of payments is lower than the amount of bills issued during the duration of the agreement, the customer has the option to either pay the full amount of the outstanding or apply for installments plan, EWA has the right to accept or reject according to the applicable terms and conditions.
